This article explains how standing orders work in Equinox.

Standing Order Summary

Standing orders are available via PAVIS for Patents, Designs, and Utility Models. Trade marks only support single orders. Single or standing order mode can be set on a case-by-case basis, and you can set your default preference in Renewals > Settings.

When a case is set to standing order mode, this means that no specific Renew instruction needs to be entered on Equinox, and PAVIS will continue to renew the IP right unless instructed otherwise.

How do I set up a standing order on a case?

You can choose whether a case is single or standing order when starting the renewal process. For more information, see article Transferring case details to PAVIS.

How do I change a case from single order to standing order?

If you want to change the order mode for the case from single to standing, you can use the 'Convert to Standing Order' option on the renewal due date page, in the Provider Details: PAVIS section.

When you use this option, an update will be sent to PAVIS immediately to change the order type. If this is successful, you will see the order type has changed to Standing, and a successful log entry for the update has been created:

How do I cancel a standing order?

To cancel a standing order, use the Cancel button next to the Standing Instruction field in the Provider Details: PAVIS section.

This will set the renewal instruction on Equinox to abandoned, and send an update to PAVIS to cancel the standing order. 


As part of this process a request is sent to cancel any open PAVIS payment orders. If there is an open order than is unable to be cancelled, an error will display on the renewal due date page informing you of this. In this scenario we recommend contacting PAVIS for further details.

How do I re-activate a standing order?

To re-activate a cancelled standing order, use the Re-activate button next to the Standing Instruction field in the Provider Details: PAVIS section.

Clicking Re-activate will send an update to PAVIS to transfer the stnading order instruction, and Equinox will display the Renew instruction again on the renewal due date page.



How do I change a case from standing order to single order?

To change a case from standing order to single order, without setting it to Abandon (as happens when you use the Cancel option above), use the Convert to Single Order option.


This will set the case to Single Order mode. Please be aware that the Renew instruction may still be stored against the renewal, so if you do not want this renewal to be paid by PAVIS you would need to change the instruction to cancel the Renew request.
